William Banks Denshire [Parents] was born in 1853. He married Fanny Lockhart Dodson on 10 Apr 1879 in Nelson, NZ.
Farmer. William Banks Denshire, was from England. The Denshire family tree goes back to 1743, George Denshire being Mayor of Stamford and lived at Stamford Manor, a huge estate with its own parks etc.� Rectory, Lincolnshire, and educated at Marlborough Grammar School and Marlborough College (England).
In 1872 he came to New Zealand and left again for England in 1874. After spending some time in England and America he returned to New Zealand and took up farming near Ashburton where he procured 2000 acres at Wakanui. He took a keen interest in sport generally, and was well known as an owner of thoroughbred horses. In1895 he was the convenor of a meeting to form the Ashburton Golf Club & was the 1st Captain. He was Chairman of the Ashburton High School Borad of Governors from 1903 to 1904.
He married Fanny Dodson, a daughter of Mr Joseph Reid Dodson who was Mayor of Nelson and owned the 1st breweries there.

Doy, Glad and Kath were known to all the family as "the aunts". Their mother never allowed them to marry and they all lived together and looked after Granny Denshire at their home in Jacksons Rd Fendlaton until she died aged 101. The curtains were usually drawn, and knocks on the door would be answered only if they desired company!
They were always cheerful, and enjoyed the races, parties, and the odd sherry. It was not unknown to "smell" the aunts before seeing them - their fur coats were kept free from weevils with lnberal supplies of camphor! They were all real characters, and well loved.F iv Kathleen Denshire.
