Arthur Gerritt van Asch [Parents] was born in 1910. He died in 1971 in Cashmere, Christchurch. He married Cynthia Emmeline Fisher.
Born in Wanganui. Educated at Napier Boys High School (Head Prefect). Read Law at Canterbury University, and joined law firm Helmore, van Asch and Walton. During World War II, he served in the 23rd battalion, rose to captain, wounded at Battle of Casino, Italy. Established Hohepa homes in Canterbury with his wife, Cynthia.
Cynthia Emmeline Fisher [Parents] was born on 25 Dec 1908. She married Arthur Gerritt van Asch.
Only daughter of Annie and Warren Fisher. Born at Christchurch, lived at Sumner until aged 7. Moved to Fendalton. Attended Elmwood Promaruy School, and Rangi-ruru. Trained as a Karitane nurse. Married first cousin, Arthur van Asch, and established the first Hohepa Home in Canterbury.
Awarded the Order of New Zealand Medal in the Queens Birthday Honours List, 2000, for services to Hohepa Schools, and to Rudolph Steiner education.
Cynthia (aged 91) flew from Christchurch (where she lives in the Margaret Stoddart Retirement Home in Riccarton) to Wellington for the Investiture by the NZ Governor General.
